A Sweet Day at Chapter Place: Carretto at the Pentridge Wedding Showcase
Yesterday we had the absolute pleasure of showcasing Carretto the gelato cart at the Chapter Place Wedding Showcase in Coburg. Located within the historic walls of Pentridge Prison, this Melbourne venue stands out as an exceptional choice for weddings. As soon as you enter, you’ll notice the venue’s distinctive, atmospheric charm, a blend of romance and character that sets the stage for an unforgettable event. For couples seeking a truly unique setting, this location delivers something well beyond the ordinary.

We were positioned right at the entrance/dining area, giving us the chance to welcome couples as they arrived and offer a taste of what Carretto brings to wedding celebrations. It was a full day, with our team on-site from 8:30am setting up for a 10am start and packing up by late afternoon.
Tasting Testing & Chats About Gelato
Throughout the day, we had dozens of meaningful chats with engaged couples and their families. Many stopped by for gelato tastings, which featured a line-up of six popular flavours:
- Raspberry Sorbet
- Lemon Sorbet
- Mango Sorbet
- Pistachio
- Chocolate
- Cookies and Cream
Everyone seemed to have their personal favourite, but pistachio clearly led the pack. Guests enjoyed swapping stories about gelato-fuelled trips to Italy, sharing nostalgic favourites from childhood, and even playfully debating which flavours best represented their personalities for the big day. There was a genuine sense of engagement and connection that made the experience memorable.
One of our favourite (and funniest) moments was a fellow vendor deciding to combine our pistachio gelato with a short black from the Coffee Rider & Co. cart to create a cheeky affogato. Honestly, it looked so good, we might have to make it a feature at future events.
Building Connections with Couples & Creatives
Honestly, connecting with so many inspiring couples was fantastic, but what really stood out was networking with other top-tier wedding vendors. Tahnaya the Violinist elevated the entire atmosphere; her live performance was just next-level and Coffee Rider & Co? Absolute life savers! Their espresso kept us sharp and energized all day (guilty of a few too many cups). Events like this really highlight the sheer talent in Melbourne’s wedding scene. It’s genuinely exciting to be part of such a dynamic industry.
